Intersting thought, but I think you missed one. The remuneration structure esp the cherished parter modell with all it entails. Without adjusting that many of your mentioned areas won’t change
great read! question on codifying expertise and redefining management: in my experience the partners i’ve worked with have very different philosophies and ways of working - as firms codify experience how do you think they will decide who’s experience gets codified? my assumption is that what gets codified becomes viewed as best practice and will dictate future outputs and there will be fierce debates about it.
This is a valid point, and the execution will have to vary according to the size of the firm. For very large enterprises operating across several geos, will be hard to obtain "one source of truth" universally applicable. Perhaps a geo model, or practice model will have to be detailed.
I have to think more about this, don't have a straight answer unfortunately.
Great piece. Fixed bid outcome based SOWs have been around for a while. But often as a thinly veiled T&M engaged pretending to be milestone based. We are now in the era where virtually all non staff Aug engagements will be outcome based.
What a willing buyer is willing to pay a willing seller is the definition of fair market value. Your points are good ones. They could all be true prior to AI as well. Also, splitting consulting into strategy (the McKinsey's of the world) and all other consulting is also required to 2 very different types of firms. As long as the majority of companies are willing to pay, consulting will exist. Yes, certainly aspects will get cheaper. But the pure spark of creativity caused when people's knowledge and experience interact with others, is still magic.

Yes, but could be a less drastic change than what you may think. What do you have in mind?
