I was definitely hesitant to start leveraging AI - felt like cheating - but once I did I can’t imagine working without it. It increases my efficiency.

Like you, I liken it to other tools when I try to show others they need to lean in (esp ones in my age demo). A craftsman who uses a power saw vs a hand saw isn’t making a piece with any less craft. It’s the output of the beautiful table that matters to the buyer.

Yeah, the initial skepticism was there, but then you understand what the tool can and cannot do and you use it accordingly for your own benefit.

We've piled into AI big time at StratNavApp.com. By getting AI to do as much as possible, we're freeing consultants to focus on the really high value add client interactions rather than spending their time doing the time-consuming grunt work.

Those that don't keep up with be left behind and soon become irrelevant!

You nailed it.i can't tell you how maddening it was to obsess about what color the graph lines on the slides were.

Adapt or die is the rule of nature. AI makes me fast as The Flash.

I don't know how well it may apply to other areas of consulting, which as @kennyfraser pointed out, is a very broad field. But at least in my field of family enterprise, I think there are two very large groups of consultants who risk obsolescence: those who "cling to the stick" and those who think they can do everything, and hide mediocrity, by using AI.

The key to thriving and continuing to add value is, as you noted, in the center path of using the tools to accelerate and amplify your ability to generate and communicate insights effectively. But the insight is still the core value, and many consultants today simply do not offer that... they offer rote implementation of tools and protocols that eventually families will learn to do on their own, using the very same AI the consultant is clinging to and simply bypassing the middleman.

Really great way of getting the point across Maurizio. It is worth bearing in mind that consulting is a very broad field. This analogy works for strategy or problem solving type engagements.

A huge part of revenue for big consulting firms these days is delivering projects or just backfilling operational roles. AI works here too but the model for success will likely be different. At the moment I see a lot of "AI will replace X type of people" thinking on this latter question. But I don't see AI remotely replacing people so how might this play out?
