This is very interesting! I’m early in my finance career and sometimes worried I “should know more than I do” but then remember I’m where I need to be and should not jump the gun. It’s especially hard during the holidays, I find, where I have a tough time relaxing and feel like I should be prepping on my own and learning more with this free time
Proactive upskilling is always a smart move. It is actually enjoyable for me personally - I assume because I'm naturally a curious person.
Ultimately though, we'll need to channel that knowledge and enthusiasm towards something that helps our wider team... and especially our leadership. That's true at all levels (ie, we always report to somebody...).
Indeed! Good balance of proactive learning and rest is the best. I find can lead to burnout in me
