Love the way you’ve articulated this MC. What is the smallest first thing you can do to have an impact and create safety. A “minimum viable engagement” of course! I suspect the model in the big consultancies makes that minimum viability surprisingly large, but worth framing as an investment.

Delivering quick wins are vital at the beginning of any consultancy and change of government! Otherwise you are quickly written off along with the belief in the possibility of change.

Perhaps what contributes to the "shockingness" of Alexander's clever reframing was that he didn't ask for permission. He just acted swiftly and solved the problem.

Had he asked, he would likely have been met by a bevy of naysaying critics and legacy thinking, eg,

-That would be cheating

-Must use your hands

-Not untying, you're cutting

-Etc, ad nauseum
