Machine Learning algorithms, for example, are embedded in a lot of enterprise software out there. So, that's one angle to explore.
Of course, GenAI seems to be perfectly suited to "enhance" the traditional role of the consultant, because it can generate content.
The various LLMs, Midjourney, Fireflies, heygen, and many more, are instruments that are usable by the consultant right now! In 5 years the improvement will be astonishing.
Between now and then there's a small window of opportunity to train ourselves as roboconsultants.
You might be covering this later in the series, but what would you recommend consultants do right now? I feels like to me that we're waiting on vendors to implement AI in their tools and then seeing how we can use it. But is there something else we can do or use here?
This is certainly something I want to explore in the next part of the series.
Briefly, there are tools that consultants can (help) build, there's upskilling that we can do for ourselves, there's education/evangelism that we can spread, there are experiments we can test, there's (a lot of) thinking we can do, especially on how to turn small-scale experiments into large transformations.
Now, for all of the above likely we'll have to follow different paths based on the type of consultancy we're dealing with: a freelancer is different from a small niche consultancy which is in turn different from a large firm.
